Sasha T.My husband and I chose Parkway Grill for our Valentine’s celebration, expecting a high-quality dining experience consistent with its reputation and pricing. Unfortunately, the evening fell far short of acceptable standards. When the bread appetizer arrived, I had already eaten it before noticing a small hair underneath the bread. While concerning, I chose not to say anything at the time since I had already finished it. When our main course arrived—ribeye and wagyu steaks with fries and scalloped potatoes—we discovered a foreign object in the fries that appeared to be a ball of hair with dark specks. This time, we documented it and immediately notified staff. Our waiter suggested it looked like a piece of a kitchen cleaning sponge, which was alarming in itself. The manager apologized and offered to remove the cost of the sides (bread and fries), which felt inadequate given the severity of the issue and the overall cost of the meal. I was so uncomfortable and disgusted that I left half my entrée uneaten and declined taking any leftovers. Replacing the fries or offering a free dessert did not address the larger concern of food safety and quality control. We still paid nearly $200 for a meal I could not finish or enjoy. I work in public health and take food handling and consumer safety VERY seriously, so this experience was particularly disappointing. I expect far better from an establishment at this level…
Lilly BWe tried a few dishes here and overall had a really good experience. The NY steak and bone marrow were great — rich, flavorful, and really well prepared. The steak was cooked nicely with a good sear, and the bone marrow had that deep, buttery richness that made it feel like a treat. The short ribs, though, were a bit too heavy for my taste. They were definitely tender and flavorful, but the richness built up quickly and felt a little overwhelming after a few bites. Overall, the food was well made and satisfying, especially if you enjoy bold, rich flavors — just something to keep in mind if you prefer lighter dishes.
Diana WeiEveryone in our family party enjoyed their steaks, which was impressive. All the steaks were 20yrs+ aged. Service was great on refilling hot waters to more. $8 valet takes credit card or cash. I think this steakhouse is worth revisiting for our family. My senior dad who is pretty picky with his steak, actually ate all of his. Forgot what he got but he like how tender it was. The SO thought his 40day NY Steak was decent but nothing that great. Rest of the party thought it was good. None of the bread was dairy-free. Many ppl in our party enjoyed the bread with raisins. The reason we picked this place was due to being in Pasadena, not overly loud like other places, and decent. Also, they surprisingly had a last minute cancellation dinner reservation a week before. Bare in mind, this is the Saturday before Xmas so it's a busy night. A family member works in the area and tried all the steakhouses for work, and tried this place to RSVP.
Cyrus EricksonExcellent meal, service and evening. The restaurant was packed but the sound level was subdued and the service was so quiet! That takes effort! The scallops, crab cakes and lamb shank were all winners. Cauliflower and scalloped potatoes are must have sides. This is a top notch restaurant!
Shanelle SClassic American fine dining. Came here with my family for an early dinner after a show at the Playhouse, and made a reservation online in advance. We split a holland America farms Bibb lettuce salad and the beet salad to start; the salads were on the small side and meant for 1-2. We also had the bone marrow and hamachi crudo; I really liked the crudo. For my entree, I had the Scottish salmon which came with a good amount of veggies and felt healthy. My sister really enjoyed her scallops and my mom was astounded at how large the whole ginger fried Louisiana catfish was - that fish could’ve been an entree for two. My dad had the short rib and we also had fries for the table, which were nice and crispy. For dessert, we split a chocolate lava cake which was a sweet way to end the meal. Valet parking is paid but there is some street parking available too. The ladies restroom was arctic cold, so just something to note. Service was friendly but not overbearing. Credit cards and cash accepted.
